Odessa, Texas – The Unity Party of Colorado (www.unitypartycolorado.com) on Saturday held its first official meeting since achieving full recognition by the State of Colorado, and tripled its candidate count while writing into its new state party constitution that Unity Party primaries will always be open to Unaffiliated voters, an option allowed by new state law.  New Unity Party of Colorado Assistant Vice Chair Scott Wagner, former Democratic candidate for State House District 43, switched his party affiliation to “Unity” via his smartphone while simultaneously declaring his intention to run as the Unity candidate in the same election, and re-elected Vice Chair Chris Otwell declared his intention to run as the Unity candidate for University of Colorado Regent-at-Large also in 2018, becoming the second statewide Unity candidate this election cycle along with Unity Gubernatorial candidate and re-elected Unity Party Chairman Bill Hammons.

“Now that our new party constitution has been confirmed as received by the Secretary of State’s office and our new party status is now 100% official, it’s time to look forward to 2018,” says party chairman Bill Hammons from on the road in his old hometown of Odessa, Texas.  “We aim to triple our candidate count again and again before our March 2018 convention, now that Unity candidates are no longer required to petition onto the General Election ballot and can instead be nominated at that convention.  We also look forward to an eventful party primary season, as Colorado’s million-strong Unaffiliated voters and their commonsense values will no doubt be a deciding factor in which Unity candidates proceed to the General.”
